NEWS RELEASE
June 30, 2005

On Wednesday, June 29, Gary Oliver informed superintendent Dr. Kennedy of his resignation as the MISD athletic director and head football coach effective July 8.

Oliver has accepted a new position as the Director of Operations for the McKinney Sportsplex Company located in McKinney, TX. He will oversee a 260,000 sq/ft indoor sports facility to include basketball, football, hockey, and soccer. Oliver said his new career would still allow him to impact the lives of young people.

In a recent statement, Oliver said, “In the 1 1/2 years since I’ve been here, I’ve enjoyed working for such a great school district. I look forward to following the Midlothian athletic programs. With a great staff onboard, the future looks bright for Midlothian students. I would like to thank the parents and community members for their continued support of Midlothian athletics.”

Although this news came as a surprise, Kennedy remains optimistic for the future of the athletic program.

“Gary’s leadership and professionalism have raised the standards for the MISD athletic program,” said Midlothian ISD Superintendent Dr. J.D. Kennedy.

Effective immediately, Kennedy announced Adam Henke as the new head football coach. During the 2004-05 school year, Henke was the offensive coordinator and will oversee the MHS football program this upcoming school year. The athletic director’s position will be posted and filled at a later date.
